Events are divided into two disciplines: sweep rowing and sculling, and categories within those: collegiate, open, and masters. For a full even list for this regatta, consult the Event Schedule page.

Rowing event names are quickly identified by their event code. That can easily group types of rowing events together with a few characters.

Example: XM4X would be Mixed Masters Quad

 First Character: Gender

  • M – Men’s
  • W – Women’s
  • X – Mixed – must have equal amounts of each gender (coxswains aren’t factored)

Second Character: Class

  • O – Open – no age restrictions
  • J – Junior – participants must be under the age of 19
  • B – Club – participants must be a member of a club (collegiate crews not allowed)
  • C – Collegiate – participants must be from a higher educational crew
  • M – Masters – Participants must be over 21. Handicaps will be factored
  • G – Grand Masters – Participants must be over 50. Handicaps will be factored
  • N – Novice – participants must not have rowed in a US Rowing sanctioned event before

Third and Fourth Characters: Shell Type

  • 1X – Single (Sculling)
  • 2X – Double (Sculling)
  • 2- – Pair (Sweep)
  • 4X – Quad (Sculling)
  • 4+ – Four (Sweep with coxswain)
  • 4- – Four (Sweep without coxswain)
  • 8+ – Eight (Sweep with coxswain)
  • 8X – Octuple (Sculling -very rare)
