Congratulations to all the winners and we thank everyone, both participants and spectators, who attended the 29th Head of the Des Moines Regatta on Saturday.
The weather was beautiful. The day started out in the low 50s (10°C) and peaked at 83° (28°C) around 4:00 PM. Skies were mostly clear with an average wind speed of 2.4 MPH (3.0 km/h). The river was calm and lazy (14.5 feet / 4.42 meters stage, 265 cfs/125 l/s flow). In all, the conditions were wonderful.
This years’s regatta consisted of 71 events spanning seven and a half hours. We had 299 entries from 34 organizations reaching from Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska.
We hope to see you all back next year as we celebrate our 30th year.
